Welcome!
This website is intended to reflect the values of the Club, (as stated in our bylaws), by promoting actuarial information exchange, education, and closer relationships among those engaged in actuarial pursuits. We strive to do this by providing useful information and powerful communication/internet tools that both members and guests should find extremely valuable.

If you find a broken link, have any questions, comments, corrections, or contributions, please feel free to contact us by using the blue flaming "Feedback" link (at the bottom of this webpage), using the e-mail links in the webpages under the "Who's Who?" page, or (if you are unsure who to contact), e-mail the Webmaster, who will promptly handle the situation and contact the proper personnel.

Bylaws
Periodically the NAC revises its bylaws to reflect relevant changes within our profession. At the 12/02/04 meeting, our membership approved revisions to our bylaws. Click on the following link to review the new bylaws. Please note that the current membership requirement will remain at two exams.

    Nebraska Insurance Federation (NIF) and
    Nebraska Actuaries Club (NAC) Scholarships
After March 31, 2008 we are no longer accepting applications for scholarships covering the 2008-2009 academic year. However, if you are interested in applying for the 2009-2010 year, please recheck this site shortly after the beginning of 2009.

Each academic year, three NIF/NAC scholarships are awarded to incoming freshman students who demonstrate a strong interest in the actuarial profession. If you would like more information, please click on the following link.
    Additional Information About NIF/NAC Scholarships

The Scholarship Committee has named the winners of the three NAC-offered 2008-2009 scholarships. Lauren Jewell and Nicholas Krieger were awarded the two NIF (Nebraska Insurance Federation) scholarships (with the potential to renew in the 2009-2010 school year), and Ryan Olson of Stillwater, Minnesota was awarded the NAC High School Scholarship.

If you think you might be interested in the Actuarial profession, we'd like to tell you a little bit about it on this (the NAC) site and the Be An Actuary site. These two sites should help you to get a feel for our profession and the exam process, which is required to become an Actuary.

Committee for the Chair of Actuarial Science
The Committee for the Chair of Actuarial Science was established when the Nebraska Actuaries Club began to work with the University of Nebraska in order to start an Actuarial Science Program at the University of Nebraska in 1957.

Initially the Committee helped recruit someone to organize the Program and serve as the first faculty member. Also, the committee raised funds from Nebraska insurance companies to provide the necessary additional support for the Actuarial Science Program, which was beyond the University's budget.

Presently, the Committee continues to solicit funding for the Program and advises the University of Nebraska Foundation on the use of, and authorizes the disbursement of, all property held by the Fund and such other funds as may be established under the auspices of the Foundation for the benefit of actuarial education. The Committee also seeks to assist the University of Nebraska in employing (1) a qualified individual as occupant of the Chair of Actuarial Science and (2) such additional staff as may be eligible to receive financial support from the Actuarial Science Fund through the Foundation.

Critical Review of the U.S. Actuarial Profession (CRUSAP)
The American Academy of Actuaries is studying the views of actuaries on the issues lying before the profession. The task force has solicited feedback through a questionnaire. The results of this questionnaire and additional information is available via this link.

    Rebuild Math Classrooms
In early Fall 2005, The Actuarial Foundation solicited Society Members requesting funding for their "Rebuild Math Classrooms" program, which was designed to help rebuild math classrooms destroyed by hurricane Katrina. The Board of the Nebraska Actuaries Club met to discuss this item, and it was decided that on the behalf of our membership, we would support the cause. (Below are the correspondence letters.) As an individual, please consider further supporting this worthy cause.
